Massive Reform: For Better or For Worst?

Yesterday's article in The Star was so imperative. The issue was taken from The Economist, written meticulously by Baraddan Kupusamy, criticizing the changes by Pak Lah. In his article, the reforms made by Pak Lah was compared to Mikhail Gorbachev (the last head of state of the USSR), whereby his reforms had overthrowed the Old Soviet regime in 1991. I was so eager to know about this guy. So, I 'wiki' and 'googled' up his name. There I found the lights out of my curiousity.

Gorbachev introduced Glasnost, which promotes openness, transparency and freedom of information in the Soviet Union government. Obviously, the traits of his reforms are tantamount to the positive changes by Pak Lah after the catastrophic-poll. He promoted openness and transparency by appointing two outspoken Senators, Datuk Zaid Ibrahim and Datuk Shahrir Samad (well-known for his critic-minded during CheDet's reign). These two ministers had announced sudden reforms by establishing ACA, Royal Police Commission, and Judicial Appointment Commission. The rakyat welcomed these establishments as more and more 'skeletons in the closet' were revealed. More high-rank officers were detained for corruption, like yesterday, a high-rank officer from KTMB was interrogated for his mishap. In last few days news, a PO was detained when he forced a girl to perform oral-sex and subsequently raped her during investigation for a traffic-offence. The more 'interesting', allegations by Justice Ian Chin against the former Prime Minister. Like I said, more 'skeletons' popped out from the closet, more defects were discovered. I tried to link these with comments regarding comparison to Mikhail Gorbachev that oversaw the changes as the 'murderer' to the Soviet Regime. Well, changes can be for a better impact or for worst. It depends on how the rakyat accepting the changes, and the fidelity of the reforms itself. If rakyat can tolerate with the 'hidden skeleton' that had just popped-out, yes, it will be for better.

But if vice versa, ughh.. I won't say anything. There's an 'alligator' outside that curtails the expression of my thoughts. I won't blame the S.A 1948 and D.A 1957..MAYBE there is a good reason...yea...MAYBE.

Thaksin came across my mind while I was writing this post. He was overthrowed by a military junta, where during his reign, corruptions were at the peak, and hostility towards a free press (contemplating over RPK all of a sudden). It only came across my mind..I'm not ready to elaborate on it...I'm a 'potential-predator', who feared the 'alligator'.

Ohh...Positive-thinking! Towards a free press, I was contended that Harakah was already allowed to be published twice a week. This is a BETTER reform.
