V for Vendetta

Yes yes I know the movie was outdated already. The movie was published in 2006 and I only watched it few weeks ago at home when it was screened in HBO. A bunch of gratitudes to Astro.Hahaha..Poor me! I was left far behind to talk about the movie when it was still sizzling back in 2 years ago.

The main character of the movie was 'V' (of course la right, you can even catch it from the title), who was a freedom fighter. His motive was to overthrow the present government, Norsefire, which practised oppression. One of his dialogue remains entrenched in my mind, "The people should not be afraid of the government, it's the government who should be afraid of the people". The significance of this quote is the guys of the rakyat to stand still without fear, and to oppose the government when they realized that the government is acting wrongly, putting aside the rights and sovereignity of the peoples. Well, we the Malaysian had been shocked with too many unanticipated government's hasty decision these past few weeks.First, the fuel price hike.Second, the salary's payment of the government servants for twice a month starting from this August, and thirdly, the budget deficit as a result of the economic turndown. When the awaken rakyat lamenting, causing the uproar, they acted in a hanky-panky way, twisted their agenda, blaming the current economy of the world. Do you think you can easily manipulate and deceive the people after the political tsunami?Back to the quote, the government should take a lesson from the 'tsunami', afraid of the consequences from their hanky-panky decisions. Wake up and smell the cappucino lah! The peoples can be subversive, any time from now on.

Another scene which strike my eye appeals was when thousands of peoples marched along the parade to the Parliament wearing V's mask. Frankly speaking, I was heartily touched of the scene. I was thinking about the Bersih rally when I watched the scene. Thousands of peoples wearing yellow shirt instead of the solemn-face mask. Now I'm wondering of the date of 5th July, where thousands of rakyat are expected to gather at KLCC, protesting for the fuel price hike. They are urged to wear red instead of the mask, symbolized anguish and dissatisfaction to the government for their ignorance. Well yeah, wearing red was better than wearing mask. When you wear a mask, your identity won't be revealed but when you are unmasked, wearing reds, there go your guts!

Well I'm still thinking of who the hell from our nation have enough physical and mental ability to depict the cunning V?V had undergone torture from Larkhill as a consequence of the bioterrorist attack and he developed his ability from the torture, which outraged his vendetta. Is there any resemblance of Larkhill here?I guess we would have a mutual thought here, it's something that is urged to be abolished for years...

Another scene which lured my attention was when Gordon showed Evey that he kept Al-Quran in his secret chamber, and told her that he is not a Moslem, but the beauty and the amazing content of the holy book attracts him to do so. Later on he was killed, purposely because the army found the Quran in his house! Here, it envisages that even the non-Moslem digested the Holy Book because of its perfect divine words. Ironically, it pictures how the white regimes treated the Moslem.

All in all, I will give two thumbs up for the movie and its depth-impact messages.

memento from mi amor!

Yay!mi amor just got back from Bandung and he brought back all these stuffs for me. Was so tormented without any sms or call from him for 5 days! and when he came back, calling me in the morning while I was still sleeping noticing that he's here already, and MMS me the souvenirs which he brought back, I was sooooo overjoyed and apologized him for the 'grace period'. Thanks, thanks a trillion dear. Currently listening to Annie's Song from Weezer, and I humbly dedicate this heartful and meticulous-written lyrics to YOU!

Erk...some old folks believed on this taboo. When a guy gives 'kain pasang' to his girl, jodoh tak sampai (their relationship won't be long). But I don't believe on this stupid taboo.

Gonna send the fabrics to the tailor for the coming 'baju raya'.
Now it's my favorite shirt!:)

You fill up my senses

Like a night in a forest

Like the mountains in springtime

Like a walk in the rain

Like a storm in the desert

Like a sleepy blue ocean

You fill up my senses

Come fill me again

Come let me love you

Let me give my life to you

Let me drown in your laughter

Let me die in your arms

Let me lay down beside you

Let me always be with you

Come let me love you

Come love me again

You fill up my senses

Like a night in a forest

Like the mountains in springtime

Like a walk in the rain

Like a storm in the desert

Like a sleepy blue ocean

You fill up my senses

Come fill me again

The hunt of thrifting @ KB!

Yay!found another thrift-shop at KB..or the exact place is Kok Lanas, with little help and direction from a friend. This thrift-store didnt sell vintage clothes, it merely has thrifted bags, belts,& watches, and yes its sorta rare&unique from other thrift shop, cos hey we cant easily find watches at vintage shop right?Plus the items are arranged and displayed neatly on the rack, so its like an 'invitation to treat' for the customer who entered into the shop.We can easily see the items without bowing and rummaging through a mountain full of dusty items!

So,when my friend first introduced the shop I was like kinda excited and overjoyed! At first instance I didnt thought to buy anything cos' I only bring RM50 in my wallet, even when my friend asked nok beli gapo? (What do u want to buy?)..I said takdok gapo-gapo kot, kelih kelih jah(nothing maybe...just want to have a look).

But I was overwhelmed with my "usual lust" once I got into the shop(ehhemm..not that "lust",i mean shopping).was lucky enough cos' we went to the shop a day after they displayed the new stuffs,so we got the chance to choose 'almost flawless' items.Plus theres lot of authentic branded stuff. So I ended up buying these bags and one butterfly-buckled belt.Ohh what a deviation from the prior intention!I'm broke, once again!

Item No.1 : Authentic Black DKNY Bag
Item No.2 : Over-sized Hobo Bag (I tied with butterfly-printed sash)
Item No.3 : Authentic Gucci Handbag
Item No.4 : Burberry Handbag (Fragrance-freebie)

The 'so-unpopular' outcries : Fuel Price Hike

So what's the main worries and anguish of the Malaysians these past few days? The answer is so 'popular', despite 'fak lah!'s remark that the hike was an 'unpopular decision' (from an infamous government under his leadership..shall I say that?). The petrol price was raised up from RM1.92 to RM2.70!(up 78 cent), and diesel, from RM 1.58 to RM2.58(up RM1)!

*Graph : credit to Malaysiakini website

Having a glance at the above graph, we can infer that THIS IS THE HIGHEST MARGINS OF THE HIKE OVER THE DECADES!*unpopular decision menate apo ni fak lah?*

Okay WAN FARHANIM...so now sit down, calm, and contemplate (do u think anyone can be calm?).What's the probable consequences of the hike?Of course, I have to tighten my budget after the new trimester starts, cos' I have to spend more on the fuel!Last time, I spent RM40 for 20.833 litre petrol for my car. After doing little calculation, the draconian hike urges me to spend RM56 for the same amount of petrol!Imagine..RM 16 difference(My father only gives me RM50 for the petrol). So I have to add-up RM16 from my pocket money from now on..I am a student, and oh did I mention?a 'cheapskate' student.I can have 3 times meals from that RM16, or buy Hotlink top-up, or even buying one outfit from F.O.S stores!

Solution : Do I have to change my lifestyle now?(Reiterating fak lah's deputy suggestion). Some laid out the sarcastic remarks on their YM status, buying a 'le-run' or 'raleigh' bicycle. Well, I will consider that, spending RM300 for once in a blue moon and sacrificing more sweat and energy, rather than wasting RM224 per month for the petrol and sitting like a potato couch in the aircond and pull the gear back and forth! That's quid pro pro right?

One of my buddies even suggested to buy a horse. But I cant ride a horse, nor affordable to pay its price! He later popped out with another solution.. "Go buy a kambing lah!Tambat..pegi kelah paka topi cowboy.."Hurm...isnt that cool?

1988 crisis : A legacy that still haunts the nation

Yesterday was as usual. Skipped up 8-10AM class because I was overslept. Besides spending the time of doing assignment and goofing around Dataran Pahlawan to look for my cousin's birthday prezzie(we ended up buying Roxy gigantic pencil case), I spend the rest of the hours reading good news of the announcement of the judicial commission. Here, I made a review.

Two decades had gone. The dark era of the judiciary since the dismissal of the Lord President, Tun Salleh Abbas, along with the grievances of his five other contemporaries back in 1988 is still an uproar. Yesterday, with the announcement of the Judicial Commission and the recognitions of the contributions by the 'long-aggrieved judges' by PakLah, with the hope of renewing the people's trust in the judiciary during the Bar Council dinner yesterday; the guests, other members from the legal fraternity and even the 'rakyat' gave thunderous cheers for the moves, notating the end of the dark era in our judiciary system. But a question arose out from my curiosity, how far could it guaranteed the light at the end of the tunnel?

Among the proposal for the Judicial Commission is to make the process of appointing, nominating, and promoting judges more transparent and representative. Our current governments had also agreed to give ex-gratia payment to those six judgement, namely Tun Salleh Abbas, Tan Sri Azmi Kamaruddin, Datuk George Seah, Tan Sri Wan Hamzah, and the representatives of the late Tan Sri Eusoffe Abdoolcader as well as the late Tan Sri Wan Suleiman. These payments might be inferred as a recognition that 'something wrong' took place in 1988. These six peoples were heroes in the battle to uphold the dignity and the independence of the judiciary, which had been tarnished by the previous government and the infamous maha-zalim.

Ambiga Sreenevasan, representing the Bar Council, applauded the moves, contending that these are the essence of what the Bar had been fighting for years.
"Tonight, we called a spade a spade, so now we can move on."

Tun Salleh Abbas praised the moves, saying "God had answered and give him a moral victory which translates to a legal victory."

But the recognition falls short of tendering apology. Although Datuk Zaid Ibrahim, the de facto Law Minister had urged the present government to apologize for the sacking of these judges, I personally believe that it's not the present government who had to apologize, it was the mistakes of the maha-zalim. He is the one who had to apologize for his atrocities and misuse of powers. In addition of setting-up the judicial commission and the ex-gratia payment towards these legal heroes, the government should have to move another step forward:to charge and convict the-one-who-shall-be-accountable for his misdemenaours, for abusing his powers, for corrupting the doctrine of separation of powers, and for divesting the judiciary's autonomy.

As this is only a first step, much more needs to be done. The effectiveness of the commission must be measured in its implementation, ie the composition and transparency. Thus, the government could only maintain the status quo of the dark era if the member of the commission is proposed like the the correct, correct, correct man.

I went over to read the news from the non-mainstream media. The above informations were acquired from NST, The Star and Bernama. I always think that by reading informations from one party only,I could not the weighed the truthfulness of the news. So, to articulate a fair and impartial views(though cannot guaranteed 100% about it), I also read the news from Harakah,Malaysiakini, SUARAM Website, Aliran, and the blogs of Anwar Ibrahim and Lim Kit Siang:

1) PAS President, Dato' Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, applauded the moves as well. However, the government should have apologized earlier than this time to these six real judiciary heroes.(Harakah, 19 April)

2) SUARAM also welcomed the Judicial Comission, claiming that the most meaningful measures that the government can take is to establish a Royal Commission of Inquiry to investigate the whole judicial crisis in 1988, especially on whether the then-Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad had abused his powers.

3) Lim Kit Siang, in his blog, said that he was disappointed with the Paklah's speech, because he had expected, much much more, announced by PakLah. The “contributions, pain and loss” of the six wronged judges cannot be equated with mere currency that the ex gratia payment is grossly inadequate. The six wronged judges deserve a full and proper recompense.

4) Anwar Ibrahim in his blog - 'Kenapa sukar memohon maaf?'. In Bernama Najib said that the ex-gratia payment is not an apology. He emphasized again that the commission has merely an advisory capacity. The final authority still lies with the prime minister to make the formal recommendation to the YDPA.

5) Aliran also welcomed the commission, but in a sarcastic remarks, contending that it was the Barisan Nasional that destroyed the judiciary in its desire to make it subservient to the Executive. In this scheme of things, questionable judges were appointed and promoted so that they would be beholden to the Executive.

Reading all of these things, made me contemplating for a while. If the Commission is merely an advisory body, the journey along the dark tunnel might be long again. The light might be far-reaching. More steps and amendments must be taken by the government to reach for the lights.

I was touched by the words of Salleh Abas when interviewed by the reporters:
"
I’ve suffered so much in the last 20 years, so much so I ran away from the public. I found solace in farming. I talked to monkeys, birds and wild boars. I asked them not to disturb my plants."

Part II - Birthday Bash 2008

This was the 2nd celebration with my dearest classmates best buddies. Here goes their plan..

Izzati gave me a call, crying, and asked me to pick her up at JJ' Secret Recipe. She told me that Shafee, her bf, leave her alone after a fight, and she didnt bring her wallet to pay the bills. I was perplexed,in the state of whether to believe it or not to believe it, because I know her bf is a pretty cool man, not one type of hot-tempered. Then, Nat came along with me. Both of us were silent, having no words to say along the 5 minutes journey to JJ..perhaps both were shocked with what her bf did to her..I was just cursing in my heart alone..hehe.(no offense shafee). We straight ahead scurrying to the Secret Recipe entrance..and when we reached the entrance..TADA!!!!!!

Izzati and Ainna were waiting there, grinning, covering the cakes with the box and getting-ready with the candles..and singing the birthday song..Me and Nat were shocked and blurred. This were the double-celebration for us (Nat birthday falls on 19 March..6 days earlier from me). They bought a piece of cake for each of us since the real one (the ice-cream cake) was slightly messed-up due to a 'minor accident' in their car. We did not mind about it actually, but since they had bought the new pieces, we couldnt say nothing much.. Izzati apologized to me for her 'dirty-tricks', but seriously I didnt mind about it. Ainna and her had really made my dayThanks a million buddies for d surprise party and the witty deception that leads us here! Thanks for the treats as well!Heart both of you to the bits..XOXO!

The Innocent vs the Uncivilised Oppressor

By the time I carried out my attachment at the High Court last few months, there's something that marked the dot on my mind, the 'heart-pricking' experience which would remain entrenched in my mind. It's a case between the local people and FELDA(clearly an Authority controlled by the 'quick-grab-opportunity' government). The main essence:the local people alleged that FELDA misused their funds and they claimed over them. FELDA's allegation:the local people planted the trees not in accordance of the agreement. Nah..Ignored their 'fake' allegations. What remains haunting my mind is the face of the local ppl(the claimant).I still remember, the face of this one old man, wearing kopiah, spoke in pure Kelantanese accent during the examination, his voice was loud, at certain time his face show 'hatred', yet he remained calm when was bombarded with question frm the FELDA's counsel(from M/S Karpal Singh if i'm not mistaken).Bravo Pakcik! He was not easily 'manipulated' by that counsel, he paused for a few seconds before answering.(Show that he think before he speak). Dear Uncivilised Oppressor, you are wrong if you think that these folks are toys that u can manipulate, you can play. Though they're not exposed to your CIVILISED WORLD,when they're deceived, they cant stay silent!I'm wondering the 'structures of the hearts' of these 'oppressor',maybe they changed the color to black, build with concrete, guarded by two evils.Dont they feel symphatized when they misappropriate the money of the rural old folks? Why they're so greedy? Is the 'commission' from their multi-million projects, taxation not enough to them?WHY THEY WANT TO BE THE SLAVE FOR MONEY?
Around a month later after the hearing took place, I was watching television. Good gracious!I was shocked, yet happy and relieved, the local ppl won the case and the damages amounted to millions ringgit..alhamdulliah,its not the amount of the damages which becomes the matter, but the pride and the rights of the oppressed.Kudos to the learned judge, for his sound decision.Day by day, people are more aware of the rights of these innocent and oppressed citizens, looked at Kg.Rimba Jaya case(another more tragic incident of the oppresed and neglected rural folks).May the new tsunami-political change and the rising of the new dawn would start a new chapter..
Yesterday, while I was chatting with a friend who did the attachment together last few months, this topic was raised out again by her...Coincidently,I was thinking about it frequently lately..and it wasnt me alone, so as her..so as the Malaysians who had wake up from their dreams..

The love-chemistry between TAN HONG MING and UMI QAZRINA

Why I'm addicted to 'blogging' again?Because I'm getting fed-up with the social network thingy, so I resorted to something which is more mind-challenging, to articulate your life, your point of views, etc. Here is my previous writing. I wrote this post few months ago, was inspired by the book of "In Good Faith" by Dato' Zaid Ibrahim, "I Have a Dream Speech" by Marthin Lurther JR, current 'political agenda twist and turns", Critics on Constitution by Prof Abd Aziz Bari, and not to forget, Tan Hong Ming and Umi Qazrina's Petronas ad..:)

"The love-chemistry between TAN HONG MING and UMI QAZRINA"

An advertisement which had striked my eye-appeal!Well, as the subject may suggest, I am not going to comment about the casting of the advertisement, instead the primary thing which striked my eye-appeal is the message of the advertisement. Yes, it's about the RACIAL INTEGRITY! It looks so sweet when the primary-school-pupil from a Chinese ethnicity fall in love with a Malay girl because she's pretty, she wear earrings, she tied her ponytail...You see,the message at the end of the ad.."Kanak-Kanak Pun Memahami.."..Even the kids, they could understand about nurturing love, friendship, and affection towards another human-being from a different race. The core of the pluralism in our country which we can assert here is:mutual respect.

The slogan "Malaysia for Malaysians" was inculcated based on our unique multi ethnic and multi religious country. What is mean by Malaysians here is tantamount to the concept of 'Bangsa Malaysia' which had been introduced by Dr.M in his famous Vision 2020 speech. So who are the peoples who form this Bangsa Malaysia?Certainly, they are the Malays, Chinese and Indians! But do not forget on the other minorities group at the East Malaysia and the aborigines, as they are part of US also. Hence, as we are ONE, we should have mutual respect for each other. The intergrity should not be tainted by playing the racial card, by stirring the seditious sentiments which could leave deplorable effects to our UNITY!

I am a Kelantanese (who are proud to be one). Although the Malays formed the majority constituent, there are still a number of Chinese, Indian and Thais which complement the populations. Yet, they mingled very well and even can speak in Kelantanese dialect! I still remember a fortnight ago, I was having my dinner at a KB Bistro, a mamak restaurant, a Chinese family came to the place and one of the boy in the family asked for "nok air teh beng sor". You see, they used our dignified dialect as the medium of instruction. Even the Thai-Moslem near my house who run a grocery shop, who married to a local man, can speak in our dialect fluently, and she wear batik sarong, liked the typical Malay middle-aged woman. These examples depict the richness of racial diversity in my kampung niche. If this can be practised at my 'kampung' nice, why can't it be existed in the larger scale, meaning that in our nation?

I guess all of us know about the sizzling headlines nowadays, the HINDRAF 28 RM28 trillion claims and their riot! What are the basis of their claims? One is they alleged that the government practised the ethnic-cleansing towards their minority group. Did they really understand what ethnic-cleansing means or they just put forward the ridiculous issue to reap the support from the Indian group?Ethnic-cleansing means displacement of an ethnic group from a particular territory, which is something similar to deportation. The question here is:do we really expunge their group? What about the second-richest tycoon in Malaysia? What about the enrolment of the men from their ethnicity in the public service, and even in the among of highest rank in the judiciary(eg:Gopal Sri Ram)? What about the large number of the men from their ethnicity who play role in the professional sector?

The Hindraf group should understand about the 'social contract' which had been drafted since the Reid Commission. The 'contract' refers to an exchange through the Constitution, while the non-Bumi were granted the citizenship through Article 14-18 of the FC and the Bumi enjoyed their special rights and privileges enshrined in Article 153. They should be grateful enough with their rights to citizenship. In addition to that, even clause 5 of Article 153 still empowering the merits to them, which laids out that any persons should be treated impartially regardless of their race. To upheld the fundamental liberties in our multi-ethnic country, Article 8 of the Constitution in furtherance connotes on 'equality before the law', that is the most sacred provision concerning human rights.

The Malays themselves should not be to arrogant with their motherland. We should remember that in the distant past, even the Malays were migrants to this country, as they came from different parts of neighbouring land. Even we are comfortable with our privileges, we should not relying too much on our special rights, as what had been described as "tongkat" by Dr.M. We should use the tool to work harder. It's so embarassing, there are too little of the Malay student who scored well at the tertiary level, they are left far behind! To tell the truth, I am not the first-class student, but I cared to ensure for my best achievement. I witnessed this "embarassing incident" by myself as now I was in the Third-Year. They would be happy enough with the "cukup-cukup makan" CGPA. If we remain to be satisfied with this mindset, how could we be on-par with the excellent achievers who are not relying on this so-called 'tongkat'?

If I were given the space to articulate my suggestion, I would like to discourse on:
"Malays, work harder and do not too engrossed. Remember the glory days of the Malacca Sultanate. Non-Malays, do not widen the rift. We are all equal. We are Bangsa Malaysia! To the Malaysians, we should embraced the diversity of ethnicity as our strength to achieve the common goal, ensuring peace and stability and in the same time exploited the richness of our diversity to be accumulated and develop the nation. Do not forget that Tunku Abdul Rahmad was not alone fighting for independence. He struggled together with Tan Cheng Lock and Tun V.T Sambathan. To quote the words of Martin Lurther Jr. in his "I have a dream" speech :
1) "I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: 'We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal."
2) "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character".

The state of homesick makes me grievously sick! Nawh! I could resist the tempation to pack my stuff and drive back home.
