Last few days, I came across an article in the Star about two skinheads held over plot to kill Obama. The article conveyed that the two white supremacist skinheads directed their attempt to kill the Democrat candidate, Barrack Obama by discussing their 'killing spree' on the Net. The men planned to drive as fast as possible toward Obama and shoot him from the windows of the car.
The masses believed that they were assigned to the Skinheads group when they found the emblems of 'swastika' and number "14" and "88" on the hood of the car. Special Agent believed that 'H' is the eighth letter of the alphabet and the number '88' stood for 'Hail Hitler'. Well, sounds quite interesting right?
I was somewhat skeptical on why they want to kill Obama, so I searched some informations about the Skinheads on Wikipedia. Correct me if you notice that I put wrong informations. From my little research, I found that the emergence of the racist skinhead became more partisan in 1970s when they were affiliated with National Front British Movement (note that this occured in Britain). These groups who claimed themselves as the working class skinheads blamed the black immigrants for economic and social problem.
By the late 1970s, some were attached to the neo-Nazi groups, who promoted the white powers. In United States, they are known as the right wing skinheads (while the left-wing such as SHARP opposed neo-Nazism) who are conservative and claimed themselves as 'patriotic'. These groups mainly targetted the Jews and the African Americans (the Black), so no wonder they aimed to kill Obama. (Source:Wiki)
Have you ever watched the movie of 'This Is England'? That movie clearly portrays how the racially-motivated skinheads treated the foreign races (by showing their misdemeanors towards the Pakistanis). I was somewhat perturbed by the scene where the skinhead kids robbed the Pakistanis groceries shop, cursing them every time they met, and chasing the Pakistanis when they were playing football. That was sooo rude and outrageous.
The Neo-nazi proposed that"the nation was the highest creation of a “race”, and “great nations” were the creation of homogeneous populations of “great races” working together. A master race (the Whites_ could therefore, according to the Nazi doctrine, easily strengthen itself by eliminating parasitic races from its homeland."
As opposed to such belief, Obama proposed the idea that "There is not a black America and a white America and Latino America and Asian America -- there's the United States of America." His idea of racial unity had been well-accepted by the Americans.
Well, the world is suffering from the financial turmoil today, and US as a driven force plays a vital role. Obama had clearly shown that he offered the best chance of restoring the United States' self-confidence, and even the Economist endorsed Obama for the presidency. This serves a merit towards Obama to grasp for the victory.
If things go according to prediction, the United States would have the first Black president to boot. The dream of Martin Lurther King Jr will become true.

It's not shocking
When I woke up in the morning and read The Star Online, I came across a controversial news, RAZAK BAGINDA ACQUITTED, but the other two cops were ordered to enter their defences. I was perturbed by an assortment of feelings, but I wasn't shock as one could reasonably expect the outcome of the case due to technical defections, the most notable one is the contradicting SD.
I guess I should not make any further comments, I am not well-discerned on the sequence of the trials or the facts/area of laws involved.=)

DeepaRaya at my place
As I was too busy with the preparation of finals (which was a persistent annoyance) while the other peoples were celebrating it, I had to adjourn my own celebration. Hence, me and my two other sisters came out with another plan, to organize a mini-celebration yesterday on the 26th of Eid, which also fell on the Deepavali Day. So, we aptly called it as a Deeparaya Open-House.
I had cordially invited a few close friends only, whereas some others were outside the hometown (blame MMU for arranging unparallel trimester breaks with other institutions). Mum bought some of the food (the roti jala and ketupat), mom cooked the fried mee, kuzi and rendang (the gravy for roti jala and ketupat) while I prepared some of the desserts(the Trifle, royal pudding, and kek batik). My two other sisters did the cocktail jelly and cleaned up the dishes.
All in all, I am somewhat satisfied with it, although to a certain extent I think it was not well-executed. I should have arranged the chairs at one corner so that everyone can fairly took the food. My sister's officemates sat on the dining table for long hours at their own frolic till I have to serve the food on the coffee-table to my friends.*Grumpy*
Meet my friends. The sole representative of kaum adam, mr darabdua (Gua syak lu malu malu dengan gadis-gadis ni. Patut la lu senyap jap bila gadis-gadis ni datang.Tak jadi nak makan dua hari.Dok berat ke malu la..)

The thrill of thrifting
The trimester break has been so breath-taking. I managed to find a getaway in my usual lust for thrifting. I went to a number of thrift shops, for the sake of halting my desire of hunting the vintage and artsy items. The outcome is an ultimate satisfaction.
I grabbed this vintage dress for RM5 and the belt for RM2. Now I am head-over-heels in love with vintage dress. I need to find plenty more before I left my hometown, of course, with a cheap price. You know a cheapskate always love the lowest bargain.
I like the detailing of the dress, the Brownish scott-roses (look like a maid from the 1940s) and the buttons-up style and the flare it gives at the bottom.
There's a layer of space at the center of the belt, joint by a chrome stud, rendering the unique sense of it.
'Love is in the air' abstract painting- RM5. (Belonged to my sis)
Roses in wooden box-RM 5
Childish photo frame and a cute flower - each item is RM2.
Was allured by the painting of an Indian man carrying a wheelcart with two Indian women behind him. The shadow of the bull makes it outstanding (before my eyes). Unfortunately there's no glass to cover the painting. I need to put it soon.

Jalan-Jalan Cari Makan bersama Wan Farhanim
When Abah asked us to have dinner at KFC last Friday, I refused and recommended another place, a santai Thai stall (which my father eventually had to obliged with this fussy daughter).I got tedious with fast food, namely ANY fast food restaurant. One may have a great indulgence towards pizza with extra cheezy (so as my father and elder sister), but if you put a piece of pizza with peperroni, melting extra cheese, big prawns in front of me even if while I'm fasting, I would never be succumbed to that 'irresistible temptation', syaitan nirrojim mungkin sangat kecewa waktu itu.
I have this weird kampung appetite, and fortunately God's fate had brought me to meet a guy with this weird kampung appetite too. And our most favorite place to date is Kampung Baru.
Last night I went to have dinner at Food Village with my family. When I woke up in the morning and heard abah told mom that she dont have to cook for dinner that night because he's going to bring us to Food Village, I decided to skip lunch, so that I can maximized the amount of food to be consumed and load my stomach to the fullest. At Food Village, you only have to pay RM13.90 per head and you can eat as much as you want. The menu includes bbq chickn+beef+squid, vegetables, steambot, nasi goreng, mee goreng, laksa and dessert, etc. So cheap kan?
Saya lah orang yang paling frequent ulang-alik to take the food until the cashier squinted awkwardly towards me, I don't give a damn la mak cik, abah saya bayar jugak kan kan kan?
I was extremely starving like hungry ghost/ppl who suffered during famines. I ate 5 bowls of cendol for the last dessert.LOL. Anyone can't outbid me this time (including my younger sister yang pelahap sejati)
*Tips if you want to go to this place: Skip breakfast, lunch and teatime, so that you can load the maximum amount of meals. Don't feel embarrassed if people stared in a puzzled way towards you when you walked frequently to take the food.

Giving the junks a brand new look
I had a 'new' bookshelf in my room, which is originally a vintage audio-shelf and I converted it into a brand new look item (obviously with a different purpose). Both sides of the shelf are already rusty, but nahh I don't give a damn. On top of it, I placed a vintage record-player (which had been nearly threw away by my father, and I became a saviour of this junk).
All of these records are handed down by Mum.
Ugh..This effing thing is not working, need to find its jarum.Does anyone know where to find it?
I was impeccably drawn to this record of 'The Beatles' among all others (legacy of mum's).
Legacy of dad, he is a huge fan of Broery Marantika
The most treasured item in my bookshelf (hand-me-downs from Mum)

Rentong by Shahnon Ahmad (1965)
Eventually I managed to finish the last page of Rentong last night. The book is about the life of unfortunate rural population back in 1960s. The story focused on the village folks, whom their daily activities and economic sources rooted from traditional agriculture (working on padi field). The issues arising from the plot of the story are co-operation among the rural folks, qualities of good leader, nepotism, corruption, characteristic of the typical Malays (their beliefs on absurd taboos, grudge, easily influenced with others tales and lies, etc).
Datuk Shahnon Ahmad had well-articulated the story and impliedly delivered the message as had been stated above in an impressive way. His way of thinking was far ahead of his time.
He pointed out that certain characteristics are passed from parents to offspring:
...Dulu Pa' Kasa. Chandong-nya ta' pernah kering darah. Mau saja ia menetak sa-siapa. Silap batu perenggan pun sanggup mengoyak kulit kepala orang. Ta' boleh orang, binatang di-sesah-nya. Sekarang turun beneh setan-nya pada Semaun anak-nya..
This paragraph conveys to us the message in relation to the Malay proverb "A spotted father begets a speckled son" (bapak borek anak rintik). This is somewhat true. I read an article in MalaysianBar website today pertaining to Race Relation Act. The author pointed out that the grassroot of racial unity came from the parents and passed to the child. Let say the parents told his child not to mingle with certain race because that certain race is sly and cheaters, their child would firmly believed on such nonsense. The author was right in proving that the laws of genetics govern the transmission of hereditary characteristics.
Datuk Shahnon Ahmad had also emphasized on the typical Malay characteristic of what we known as the 'backstabber'.
..Orang2 di-kampong kechil kita ini bukan betul semua-nya. Di-depan kita bagini dia kata, di-depan orang lain, lain pula kata-nya. Mana ada manusia yang betul2 jujor'..
This was overwhelming among the Malay community. Some people would be very nice in front of you, but behind you they would talk the offensive things about you. This is what the old folk Kelantanese referred to as "Mulot manih j*bo mase" (Sorry, its gross and offensive, yet it conveys the crystal clear meaning on how these types of people behaved).
In the third chapter of this book, the author envisaged on the issue of greediness and nepotism.
This explicitly pictures the practice of nepotism and corruption among the Malay leader who have bear the responsibility to guard the welfare of the people below them. They had misused their responsibility for their own materialistic benefits. What had been imparted by the author is that the problem even occurred among the non-educated rural folks, and we can infer his implied message, what about the authoritarian leader who has the grasp of the 'jelapang' in their hand?
Datuk Shahnon Ahmad had conveys a discreet cynical message in the book, muted but still audible.
*Datuk Shahnon Ahmad has won the highest literary award in 1984 as the National Laureate. The publishing of Shit in 1999 had provoked the ruling government to strip his National Literary Award. Shahnon is a parliamentary member of PAS.

Al-Fatihah: Shamsiah Fakeh (1924-2008)
“I was merely a woman fighting the British for my country's independence and the emancipation of women.”(Shamsiah Fakeh: 1924-2008)
She was among the real fighters for Independence..
She was among the first woman nationalist..
She was the leader of Angkatan Wanita Sedar (AWAS) ..
"When she was dismayed whether to join Parti Kebangsaan Melayu Malaya (PKMM) or UMNO, she resorted to the former, conceding that UMNO was not more than a mere puppet of the British. For her, PKMM was more dedicated to the struggle for Malaya's independence". (Source:Wiki)
Being a left-wing political figure, she had incredible guts, injecting the spirits of the people during the pre-Independence period to free the nation from the stranglehold of the British colonials.
She was a legendary, a real freedom fighter.
A truly iron lady, cos' it's hard find those spirits among other women.
She's one in a million.
Today she had passed away, yet she earned a noble place in history.
She's a woman of my inspiration.
R.I.P.Al-Fatihah.

Home Sweet Home!
I'm home, FINALLY!*beaming*
I was tremendously relieved after my Criminal Procedure paper ended. Immediately I called my sis, started the engine, rode along the North-South expressway to Bangi. I was so shocked, but pleased in admiration to see my guy losing his weight (while I was gaining weight due to depression of final exam.*sigh*). Seriously exam can't only caused so-called mental gymnastic, but also stimulating 'extraordinary' appetite with flying colors.
My guy inadvertently left his handphone in the cinema. He went to look for it but it's gone already. I was so furious of his clumsiness at first, but later the sense of empathy came across my mind. Poor him. It was partly my fault to "QC control" his text inbox while we were watching 'Fury'. Yes at times I can be an annoying girlfriend.lol.
The journey to Kota Bharu was bored as usual, but this time I was a bit surprised. Previously, if I traveled with FireFly, the condition was extremely bad (tiny space, seats like town bus, etc) but this time they had changed their aircraft to a more cozy environment+more pretty and hot stewardess+FREE light refreshment(orange juice and muffin). I repeat again, FREE!That makes a cheapskate felt contented (I'm referring to myself). Seriously the fare is worth with what they offered, last time I bought it's RM65(including the taxes).
Before I went to bed last night, I randomly searched the bookshelves and I stumbled upon this old book, 'Rentong' by Shahnon Ahmad. I'm not a fan of literature, but I was attracted with the author. Shahnon Ahmad was eminent back in 1998, with his controversial book, Shit! He was an outspoken National laureate, possessing so-called subversive ideology (he himself is a member of opposition party). 'Rentong' was published in 1965, emanating from the story of unfortunate rural population. This book was among the earlier book published by him, with classic words and spelling, giving us a picture of his ideas in the earlier decades.
Trimester break makes me feel good because I have more time to read NON-ACADEMIC books. I have tired of reading the books full of legal jargons.
The most priceless thing, I can enjoy pleasant food.
Maggi Celup, it's not similar to the one you buy and cook expressly, the taste is much different, believe me its yummy!
Mom's 'Royal Pudding'.It's HEAVENly sedap!
*I live to eat, not eat to live*:P

palat la kau ni
I was having lunch with my friend, Wanis, yesterday at Plaza Siswa when a group of boys clad up like a 'fashion victim' passed our table, and one of them uttered these words:
"Palat la kau ni!"
I paused chewing and stared at Wanis and she stared at me back and we started to giggle.
Wanis: Naka molek la budok budok ni..pengaruh Kami la blako nih (Funny la these boys, probably be influenced by 'Kami" the movie)
Me: Jolo doh. Bakpo mung tok japok, 'hidup ini memang palat tapi esok masih ada'?Haha (You are dead right. Why don't you say bla bla bla..)
*LOL*

1 more ahead!
1 more paper ahead and I will get the ultimate freedom, oh wait no so-ultimate.2 more trimesters haunting ahead.*sigh*
I'm going back to kota bharu this saturday.yay! No more mental and physical self-torture (mental in the sense that I have to crack my head to memorize the cases, physical in the sense that I can't have enough sleep and consuming too much caffeine, until I felt nausea).
And the sour 'skittles' and dried plum are those supplementary for my energy-stimulator too.
Why don't the government abolish the exam in their 'Save the World' campaign? So that they can save the papyrus, limit the cutting down of trees, save human energy, preserve the habitat of the wildlife...well so many pros right?

The most hilarious joke of the month
I read The Star this morning, until I came upon a funny news:
"Shah Rukh Khan got datuk-ship from YDP Malacca".
It almost made me rolled-on-the-floor and laughing-my-ass-off.=)

Take a stroll down memory lane
*Taking a short break (15 mins) from burning the midnight oil, while sipping a cup of coffee.
Seeing the school kids recently struggling for SPM invites me back to my alma mater. Honestly, I believe that SPM is not the supreme life arbitrator. You got straight As, it might be your turning point (but it doesn't fully guarantees your dream comes true). You failed to get straight As, it is not the end of your world. Einstein who failed a number of times at college became a supreme prominent scientist. Bill Gates who was once a university drop-out became the wealthiest man in the world. Nobody expect he was a genius, and at the age of his late adulthood he earned a degree in law from Harvard law school.
Life is so unpredictable.
I remembered I was enrolled into Mara Junior Science College (MRSM) when I was 16. During the orientation week, we were told to memorize the 'Warisan' song, (a song to enhance the spirits of the Malays and wake us up from the daydream). I liked the spiritual lyrics which highlighted the Malay dilemma and the significance of the unity and endeavours. One thing made me confused, the seniors kept on reiterating that we are now are the victims of the tyrannical other ethnic groups. That was so absurd. I hate the belief and stance that 'we are the oppressive majority in our own land'. Why don't we adopt and fostered the spirit of 'equality' and 'racial unity'? Put yourself in other shoes. If everyone can tolerate, believes in equal treatment, there's no such things of chaotic Hindraf 'attacked' the Eid open-house.
Back to my misery memoirs, since then I hate the seniors and it flared up with their treatment to the juniors. We were not allowed to bring cell phone (even to contact our parents). They would instantly report to the warden if we are caught using cell phone. The cellphone was not an affordable thing that everyone can buy during that time. There's only a number of students who got it. Justifying on this fact, I think their 'grudge informer' behaviours were incited by their jealousy, not of their obedience to the rules. Oh yes and I hate the rules. You have to wear socks (I don't mind that the scarf is compulsory) everytime you went out from the dorm. Every night you have to go to prep's time at classroom. You have to strictly adhere to the scheduled-time to take your meals. All these nonsenses had induced me to quit and continued in normal school. I never regret.
Some members from my family scolded me for my hasty decision. They said studying in MRSM is a stepping-stone to further your studies abroad. I would never turn back. Remember Robert Frost poem on 'The Road Not Taken?, the author was stuck in the roads diverged in the yellow wood and he chose the road which the leaves seemed fresh and there's no trail of men-paces. I resorted to his way. I was affirmed with my stance.
I believe that my alma mater was not only confined to get 'paper education'. That was the most precious time to learn about friendship, embraced your teenhood to the fullest, learning 'skills' about breaking the rules and committing mischievous things, and many other 'real education in life', all are priceless.
*I have to continue reading on my coming paper this Friday.Wish me luck.

Eidulfitri ( Day 1)
Happy Eid! In spite of the depression of the coming finals, I can still manage to celebrate the Eid like in the past years. I have to 'steal' some time when the guests were not around to flip on the books and statutes. Was totally and utterly stressed to celebrate Raya with the annoyance of finals (3 hours for each subject, enough to make your butts numb and your body shivering with the icy cold air-cond).
Today, mother cooked Nasi Beriani. I made my own dessert (the Royal Pudding). It's too sweet, like a stimulation to diabetic. *lol*.I baked few cookies (the Ice Cream Cookies and Chocolate Chips), some were bought by my mother. Boyfriend did come to my house, and I forced him to give my 'duit raya', I know he can't refuse, he gave me RM10(hahaha.enough to buy RM10 hotlink topup..:P). This might be my last time to get duit raya(I'll be graduating next year), so I persuade everyone to give me.:D
Seeking forgiveness is the usual practice during Eid, so I would like to tender my apologizes for any mistakes I've done...Salam Eid.Maaf Zahir Batin.
Note: To those whom I had promised to bring the cookies, I would try my utmost best to bake more cookies, we're running out of the cookies stock(aih..so poyo). But trust me,I'm a woman of my words.:)
Another Note: I nearly lost my senses lately with certain unwanted events. Now I had 'accumulated' my senses back, and realized I was too foolish and childish with the previous postings. Haha. Well, we're just a 'homo sapien', cannot run away from doing mistakes right?
